Alien 3 displayed this brilliantly when a Facehugger infected a dog and gave the resulting Xenomorph a more canine-like appearance and mannerisms. While there are some universal constants when considering their biology–like acid blood and double mouths–the rest is pretty up-in-the-air. ![]() It is easy to forget–given how iconic their design is–that the Xenomorphs’ appearance is based almost entirely on their host. One of the most interesting aspects of Alien’s Xenomorph species is the biological imprinting that they undergo upon their gestational period within a foreign host–and as shown in one comic book one-shot, an alien species known as the Reapers are the perfect hosts for producing absolutely monstrous Xenomorphs.
